Hi, I’m Erin Clark. I’m a full-time news editor and part-time web and software developer. I also work extensively in graphic arts.

I came into web development by chance, really. At the dawn of the tech bubble, I really wanted to have a personal website, but after weeks of searching for the right template and designer for the job, I was disheartened. I couldn’t find anything affordable that I liked, so I set out to build my own site. Through a lot of research and trial and error, I was able to create a nice site, and people began to ask me about developing sites for them, too. Throughout the years I’ve developed varying degrees of expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, PHP, ASP, Java, Perl, C++, MySQL, Flash, SEO and other areas.

I came into software development much the same way. My office needed a scheduling module specific to the news industry, but we just didn’t have the budget for it. This led to more research and more trial and error, and eventually I came up with a piece of software that perfectly fit our needs. I had a lot of fun with it, and have since continued to build business solution software.

In graphic arts, my skill set is somewhere between proficient and expert. I’m also an advanced copywriter and editor with 14 years of professional experience as a news editor and journalist. I’ve also edited academic dissertations and have occasionally edited research papers for scientific journals.

I’ve found web and software development to be the perfect mix of the surety of mathematics and the freedom of artistry, and I really love what I do. The fact that I’m able to incorporate graphics and writing into development projects is an added bonus.

What I can do for you

I design, develop and host custom websites for individuals and businesses, and build software. I also teach others to create, market and maintain their own sites.

From concept to completion, many hours of research and planning go into each project I design, small or large. I pay a lot of attention to detail and always consider how each piece will be marketed and measured. I can’t create any brand other than my own – after all, a brand is a reputation – but I can set you off on the right foot with beautiful design, well-written copy, and an identity that will stand out from the crowd.

I also provide training and easy to follow documentation on how to maintain and update your website. And should you need any assistance, I’m always on hand to help out.

Furthermore …

I blog about web and software development, graphic design and online marketing. If you’d like to receive my blog posts via email, sign up on the homepage, or to the right under “Get free tips.”

For those interested in creating their own website, I’ve written an e-book that walks readers step by step through the process of acquiring a web host and domain, constructing a beautiful and effective site, and finally monetizing and marketing the site.

Feel free to contact me for questions, comments, or just to chat. You can also follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Google+. I’d love to hear from you.
